Inconsistent results with burning to CD-Rs, is that normal?

[Released: 1998] Born out of Sega's darkest hour to decide whether the company stays in the hardware business. Even though it didn't officially last long in the US, it was continued selling in Japan and spawned some great 2D Japanese shooters.

Inconsistent results with burning to CD-Rs, is that normal?

I’ve found some games (sonic adventure, sega bass fishing 1 and 2) work just fine while others (sonic adventure 2, sonic shuffle) load only occasionally or crash part way through playing

I’m using HP 52x 700MB discs and burning at 2x speed with imgburn, are there some better settings/ discs I should be using?
