Trilogy games?

Hey guys. So I was wondering how trilogy games work. I recently had been interested in trying out assassins creed games on ps3, and I recently saw that in a game stop near me they have "assassins creed trilogy" but it only has one disc. I also saw that mass effect had the same thing now that i'm also interested in trying out those games.
