Universal Chassis and/or Makvision 2425 help

I picked up a dirt cheap MK2 cabinet recently (just cabinet and monitor) that had a non-working Makvision 2425. When I power it on, it just clicks. Couldn't really find any info on the chassis so I figured I'd give the Aliexpress/ebay universal chassis a try. To my delight, it actually worked! However, a few minutes after running, it turned off and didn't turn back on. Saw a little smoke come from around the front-right corner (if you were looking from the back of the monitor), but not sure...
