Damaged sound chip???

Hi guys today i was done with wiring some stuff in the mega drive and i wanted to test the sound too through the headphone jack. I plugged in my headphones and i only heard mono audio. I tried some cleaning the headphone port but it still wouldn't work. Then i saw a tutorial on RetroRGB and tried the stereo mod, but i couldn't hear a thing and the sound was distorted, there was also a lot of noise in the audio connecting audio that way.
