European Snes VS Japanese Snes

Hey. Thank you for reading this in the first place. I really wanna buy a Snes but can't really pick between european and japanese versions. I live in Portugal so I'm already aware of the voltage difference and most of the items I'm interested already have an A/C adaptor. Do you think the japanese language barrier will be too big and I should just stick to PAL?
