What did reviewers use for official PS3 game captures back in the day?

Was trying to Google information on this and didn't really find anything. I'm not asking how to capture PS3 gameplay because I can already do that via component into my capture card, although I am curious if there was ever official capture hardware from Sony or special PS3s for journalists and the like who wanted to capture gameplay footage for the console for media coverage of their games. I only ask because the PS3 had HDCP and I'm curious if journalists had to bypass this via an analog output or if they had their own special hardware provided by Sony. Whenever I see guides online I always see people recommending splitters that stripped HDCP which I always thought was funny but I can't imagine bigger review sites going this route.
