Record of Lodoss war save file defect?

Is the RoLW game known for having save files defect often? Twice now, around the two hour mark, my save gets defective and I can’t use. Second time I made a backup thankfully.

Now, I am also using a GDEMU card reader and a download ROM of RoLF and a brooks adapter. Saves go into the brooks adapter as it acts as a memory card. Could either of those be the issue instead?
