Installing PHP on RPI zero W (ARMv6)

Post by /RaspberryPi »

I've been trying for the past few days to get PHP installed on a RPI zero W and have been having minimal success. When I run the command to install PHP it appears to work alright, but then when I try and run anything with PHP I get the response "Illegal instruction." In my googling I found that it has something to do with PHP being compiled for ARMv7, but the Pi zero W uses ARMv6. That is as far as I got, and I was not able to figure out how to get around that difference. Ordinarily, I would use a Pi zero 2W, but since I cannot find one in stock anywhere for a reasonable price, I don't really have the option to switch to that. Anyone know how I can figure this out?
