Haven’t used my softmodded Xbox in years. Couple questions for 2022

A friend and I (in college) softmodded our Xbox consoles. It was an amazingly fun time. Likely around 2007/2008.
I know it runs UnleashX, and we replaced the HDD (to 500GB IDE).
Recently, that friend moved back to my area, and I suggested we dig out the consoles and do some upgrades.
We bought SSD’s, new fan/brackets/etc.
Onto my questions:
I’ve read around that UnleashX is dated/not used now.
What’s the “best/preferredâ€￾ softmod in 2022?
Is there an easy way to take/keep what we have, and move it from UnleashX to whatever the latest and greatest is?
If swapping is easily possible, is there a guide for that anywhere?
Appreciate any help. I searched “softmodâ€￾ and didn’t really see anything related to my questions.
