Quick Xbox sound questions

Does anybody know if there's any way to get an external sound card to work on Xbox, like via a USB adapter to the controller? Or, if I use an aux splitter, can I then use a jack to USB adapter to connect the mic portion to a USB mic? Just trying to figure out some work around to an issue I've been having.
