How to get audio from speakers from the Xbox one or xbox one x controller with aux port

Like in the title how can I get audio from speakers from the Xbox one. My son is using a monitor and he has normal aux cable headphones and the audio works for that. So I bought him speakers thinking they would work with the controller aswell, but I can’t hear anything
