Is there any way to tell how old an original Game Boy is?

[Released: 1989] The Game Boy is Nintendo's second handheld system following the Game & Watch series. Despite many other technologically superior handheld consoles introduced during its lifetime, the Game Boy was a tremendous success.

Is there any way to tell how old an original Game Boy is?

I have an original Game Boy that's in really good condition (the original screen didn't work, so I replaced it, but otherwise, it's in amazing shape), and I'm just wondering how old it is.
I know the original model was made from 1989 all the way to early 2003, but is there any way to tell where it falls in that range?
