Xbox shutting off and saying it shut off because of overheating when I turn it back on

[Released: 2013] Moving away from its predecessor's PowerPC-based architecture, the Xbox One marks a shift back to the x86 architecture used in the original Xbox; it features an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) built around the x86-64 instruction set.

Xbox shutting off and saying it shut off because of overheating when I turn it back on

Post by /xboxone »

So my Xbox began shutting off around a week ago anytime I turn it on. Turns off after about 10 minutes of being on. When I turn it back on, it says that it shut off due to it not having proper ventilation, and to make sure it’s in an area where it gets ventilation. I’ve had it in the same area since I moved into my new apt. 3.5 months ago, and I never had any issues up until last week. Any advice?
I got the Xbox around 7 or 8 years ago, and I’ve never cleaned the fan, so I’m assuming that might be the issue
