Does Project Eris update the stock emulator?

Does Project Eris update the stock emulator?

Hello! I am looking to mod my PS Classic in a way that's as close to the stock experience as possible, including using the stock emulator. Does Project Eris update the stock PCSX emulator that's built-in to the system? If not, is that something that's possible to do?
