Is there any way I can use a headset (or separate mic) without the controller?

I have a third party controller without a 3.5 jack or mic (the original controllers are almost $100 where I live, and $100 is a lot where I live) so I can't seem to find a way to plug in any input audio. Is there any way I can pipe input audio directly in the Xbox, besides USB dongles which I know don't work?
