gameboy player question

[Released: 2001] The GameCube, with the Game Boy Player attachment, it is able to play Game Boy/Color, and Game Boy Advance titles. It's successor, the Wii, supports backward compatibility. Panasonic released a DVD player hybrid Gamecube.

if you have a japanese gamecube with a japanese gameboy player and disc, can you use north american cartridges with it? trying to find a way to play gameboy games on gamecube without buying the north american disc or modding
