Carousel Limit Project

Hi guys,
i've been using project eris for many years now with a 128GB Sandisk USB stick with over 180 games on there (.CHD format).
Recently, I found an old 1TB Seagate external HDD and am now thinking of loading it full with PS1 games in CHD format. I should be able to fit about 1000-1500 games on it.
Before i'm going to invest the time it would be nice if someone knows if the carousel can even handle so much games?
If not what is your experience with the max number of games the carouse can handle?
Any feedback would be appreciated, thx!
