Cleaned SNES controller and now all buttons register as pressed

Anyone have this happen before? The controller obviously needed cleaning since buttons needed to be jammed in to work. Cleaned it, then I ran the SNES button tester and it shows all buttons pressed at once full time :S I've cleaned 6 controllers before this one and always worked great. Any ideas?
