Recovering E-shop purchases

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

Recovering E-shop purchases

My 3ds was lost while on vacation about a year ago and I am thinking about purchasing a new one, I had quite a few games purchases on it from the E-shop. Is it possible to recover those games or would I have to re purchase them?
