Ubisoft has set Assassin’s Creed Mirage price as $49.99 across all platforms, surprising fans. At a time when AAA games are going upwards of the usual $60 for current-gen platforms, Ubisoft has settled for a uniform price tag that’s about $10 below standard, regardless of players’ platform of choice. This is understandable given that Mirage was born out of an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla expansion and it’s expected to offer around 15-20 hours of play time. But Ubisoft has said that varying prices for future Assassin’s Creed games might become the norm going forward.

Speaking to IGN, executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté confirmed that Ubisoft will be moving away from the 150-hour RPG formula that recent Assassin’s Creed games have been built upon. The developer wants to make a variety of games that “bring more diversity to the places we choose to visit and to how we choose to represent those periods.†As a result, Assassin’s Creed games will have varying lengths and content going forward, and Côté has confirmed that future games will be “priced accordingly.” Players can expect some free experiences as well.
“Sometimes you’ll have free experiences as well, which I think is a great way to entice players to either come back,†Côté continued. “We’ve had a great experience with the latest crossover stories for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It brought so many players back into Odyssey.”
Going back to Mirage, the game will come with Deluxe and Collector’s Editions as well. The former will be priced at $60 and will include a “Deluxe pack,” and the latter will cost $150 for extras like a Basim figurine, replica brooch, steelbook, and more.
In other news, Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Infinity is a hub rather than a game, and The Division Heartland was finally revealed yesterday.
