Extension cord doesn’t work for player 2

I haven’t had this problem until now, I use to have 6 ft extension cords that worked fine and me and my friends had no problem doing 2 player games- then one of the extension cords broke (it was a really cheap one I guess and one of the internal wires snapped) instead of soldering it back I just ordered new cables this time 10 ft ones. The controller works just fine with player 1 but player 2 it just doesn’t read. It’s not the controller itself as I can plug it in without extension cables and it works just fine. Any thoughts?
