What are your memories of encountering the SNES prior to owning one?

[Released: 1990] The SNES was the best-selling console of the 16-bit era despite its relatively late start and the fierce competition it faced. The console was able to run some of the first three-dimensional video games on consoles, beginning with Star Fox.

What are your memories of encountering the SNES prior to owning one?

I’m referring to store kiosks, TV commercials, and whatever other brief previews, etc.
In other words, how were you introduced to the console? What kind of things captured your attention (long before you were able to experience a SNES game at a more leisurely pace in your own home)?
