I wish I would’ve switched to SSD Boot years ago

Post by /RaspberryPi »

I’ve been running a Pi3B+ and a Pi4 (4GB) for years (basically their release) but lately I’ve had huge lag issues when accessing them over ssh and every command would take 30-90 seconds to do.
I’m running docker on both and all the containers have plenty of free ram/cpu but something was hogging the performance like crazy.
I decided to grab a couple of 120GB ssds with usb to sata cables and change to ssd Boot from SDboot.
Holy **** the performance is amazing. Now I have no lag and boot times are great. I really didn’t think it would change so much. My previous SD cards were 128GB Samsung cards that comes recommended for Pi’s.
