Raspberry Pi4 micro SD card replacement HELP

Post by /RaspberryPi »

Image Hi guys
so i wanted to know the actual part for the raspberry pi4 4gb version.....and where in the UK I can buy it from. The sd card wasn't present on the pi4 I noticed the slot was broken... so I used to get an error message.
original micro sd card

original micro sd card
Note the part number it says I can not find this anywhere...nor does anyone mention what the part is in the forum
I was told to buy this part micro sd card slot
https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/memory-c ... rs/8967560

new miro sd card
NOTE the part number is different but sd slot not detected
I have not soldered before and I watched a few tutorials and sorted it out. I did ask someone else to do it but the kind burnt the pad off on the bottom right where it holds the MicroSD slot. So I attempted it myself and wow it DETECTS the slot :-)

detected slot bu t not the card
however, I still get this error even though it now detects the MicroSD slot....

I can get the sd card to boot from a USB adaptor no problem
is this because its the wrong part or the sd card may need formatting... am a little stuck here.
