Booting via USB 2.0 w/ NVME drive for NASPi

Post by /RaspberryPi »

I've got a spare 128gb NVME sitting around that I was planning to use for my NASPi build. The Pi4 only has 2x 3.0 ports and I'm running a dual-drive NAS so I'd prefer if both of the HDDs go to the 3.0 ports.
Would the NVME via USB 2.0 be noticeably slower than just using an SD Card?
Primarily I'd like to use the NVME simply because it's solid - it won't get corrupted like the SD card eventually will.
NAS + torrents (Sonarr/Radarr) and maybe Home Assistant in the future.
