using a raspberry pi to take readings from 350 engine

Iv got a 1984 k5 blazer and the guage cluster has become un reliable as the circuit board behind the cluster is old and falling apart. Iv got an old pi and touch screen from a previous project and rather then buying new guages had the thought of using the pi to take the readings and display them on the touch screen allowing me to give it any designe and look From what iv found people have done this with newer vehicles with a ecm but can't seem to find any info on doing this to an engine that has no ecm
