rpi remote access not available after ISP ip change and dyndns update

hi scenario: i have set up dyndns to reach my rpi remotely. sometimes my WAN ip changes (ISP). I have set up scripts that update the dynds accounts to point at the new ip. Unfortunately the RPI will not be available via remote after that. It takes a reboot and everything is back to normal but i really dont want to reboot the RPI each time my ISP changes my WAN ip. This is probably an easy fix so maybe sb. can help me. thanks!
