I'd just like to understand what happened. I had a pi and a SSD over USB. Also a wired keyboard and wireless mouse dongle. I used my nintendo switch charger because it was there. I plugged in a second SSD and everything shut off. Thankfully the pi, drives, SD card are all fine. The charger doesn't work anymore.
I'm thinking now that I should have used a powered USB hub. I didn't think that drives with no moving parts needed that much power. I also seem to remember something about Nintendo not using the proper USB-C standard with the Switch? I feel like the 45W switch charger should have been able to supply more than enough power, and if anything the pi should have blown something if I went over the USB power limits.
Anyway like I said I'm just curious if anyone can explain what happened. Thanks.
