rp2040 Powered 60% keyboard

Post by /RaspberryPi »

Hey everyone. At 1upKeyboards we are working on moving away from the standard atmel controllers that have been ubiquitous in custom keyboards for many years. The rp2040 seems to be the natural choice, and I have already made a 40% keyboard using a pico as a controller, but moving forward we want the controller to be integrated.
The 60?RGB is going to be our first attempt, and we would love some feedback.
This keyboard will feature hotswap sockets, and full in-switch addressable RGB leds. Some of its features are:
  • Poker style mount
  • RP2040 with 16Mbit memory
  • Kailh V2 Hot swap sockets
  • Per Key RGB lighting
  • USB type C port
  • ESD protection
  • i2c Qwiic breakout connector
  • Green PCB with "inverted" black silk screen
This PCB is designed to work with the 2040 QMK fork currently in development, as well as KMK, and Peg firmwares. You can also just use CircuitPython for full control if you wish.
We have plans to release a standard 60? that will be an underglow version and potentially O-Ring mount compatibility for Bakeneko style cases if there is enough demand. We also plan on doing multiple sizes including 65?, TKL?, and 100?.
For additional information as well as updates you can follow the Geekhack thread.
Thanks!
