Pi Pico for Guitar Hero Guitar

Hello everyone,
I just purchased a pi pico to try and create a guitar hero controller with. My plan was to just use CircuitPython to emulate keyboard presses and map those presses to the correct game controls. The only problem is that when I try to hold down the button it does not give a continuous signal. I don't really know how else to explain. If anyone has ideas on how to code a continuous signal as a key press that would be greatly appreciated. I'm honestly not even sure I explained this problem well, very sorry.
