Cannot interface 16x2 display to RPI 400

Post by /RaspberryPi »

Hey.
I have a 16x2 Liquid Crystal display left over from an arduino project i worked on before. I tried attaching it to my recently bought Raspberry pi 400 using GPIO to try out the Raspberry platform.
The display lights up and the black squares on the first row too, but when i try to compile an example .py to test it out i get a few errors. I tried a tutorial and i downloaded a github library but it won't work
Error: "RuntimeError: Could not determine platform"
Error: "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named RPIO"
I will try to post the tutorial & github project in the comments(if that's allowed) as i keep getting my post removed
The current wiring i'm using is the one pictured in the tutorial.
The Raspbian version is Bullseye.
Do you have any other tutorial or guide i can use? I'm pretty experienced with Arduino and this is my first time trying out the GPIO on the Raspberry.
