Is there something wrong with my White 2 cartridge?

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

I started a new game of White 2 (not a new cartridge, I’ve had it for a little while), and it looks like this:

This is a 3DS XL, so I know the sizes can be mismatched, but this is smaller than I remember. I can’t find anything about it online. Am I crazy, or is something actually wrong?
