Question About MH4U Plot

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

Question About MH4U Plot

Hey all,
When I got my 3DS I picked up some games that looked up my alley and got this game for an absolute steal for $4, but as a gamer with limited time I am a bit daunted by the estimated 100 - 400 hours of gameplay HowLongToBeat says this game has...
I generally value a strong plot over something like collecting monsters or 100%ing a game. For example, XenoBlade Chronicles 3D (while also REALLLLLY long, took me 2-3 months to finish) I really enjoyed as it was pretty plot heavy and then had extra elements you could do if you wanted (collectibles, grinding, side quests, affinity building, etc...) - Is that similar to how MH4U is, Or is it more focused on the hunting of the monsters and less on an overarching narrative?
