What consoles do I need to play all pokemon games?

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

What consoles do I need to play all pokemon games?

Help me out here. I stopped playing pokemon games years ago and I decided to play all of games I missed.
I only own GameBoy color and I am gonna buy Switch Lite once it's available.
So my question is what other consoles do I need to play all other main pokemon games? I know there is something like virtual console but I would prefer to have original experience. I know some of the consoles have backwards compatibility and now there is so many gens, remakes and versions of ds that it's kinda confusing.
