Reset button during game to bring back to xmb?

Hi I am using my dualshock 4 controller on ps3 and seeing as the playstation button doesn't work on dualshock 4 can I press the reset button during a game to bring me back to the xmb so I can shut down from there, is it safe and won't damage anything? Thanks
