Changes in Legend Of Valkyrie on the Mini's

Post by /turboG16 »

Despite Konami not providing the already fan translated version of Legend Of Valkyrie for their recent trilogy of Mini's it seems the game went through some interesting stages of alteration to be suitable for outside of Japan territories, here is a comprehensive if not complete list of changes the game had.

  1. The tiled structures of the flooring on the 1st boss have had religious imagery removed.
  2. A weird decision of removing all strobing white flashes when the 1st boss has had a inch of it's life removed, this may have also been an effect that indicated the boss was getting serious and was powering up. All the same the sound it makes is still intact but the effect is removed.
  3. In stage 4 when you collect the potion to break the frog spell revealing the old woman in the prison cell the strobing white flashes have all been removed.
  4. In stage 5 just as soon as Valkyrie looses her powers the strobing white flashes have once again been removed.
  5. In stage 6 after finding the spring after going through a trial being underpowered the several strobing white flashes have been removed, likely this would have continued for ages in the game as it's not tied to being in the spring or not.
That's all the changes I can see, nothing has been changed in animation wise of sprites so mainly it may be due to restrictions and stuff after all Splatterhouse had stuff like this too.
What is weird is no other games were changed you can still have that huge strobe explosion of the end boss explosion of Gradius still happen and other games still are the same.
